The first democratically elected government the CIA overthrew was actually Iran’s in 1953 through Operation Ajax. Democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadiq and his National Front Party planned on nationalizing the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (now known as BP). To protect British interests, the CIA and MI6 overthrew Mossadiq, reinstalled the Shah, and set up a secret police known as SAVAK. Until the Iranian Revolution in 1979, the Shah and SAVAK killed over 20,000 Iranians.

China and Russia Veto Action On Syria

Western and Arab states have expressed their outrage and disgust at the decsion of China and Russia to veto a U.N resolution that would have backed an Arab plan to insisting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to give up power. Russia stated that the resolution was biased against President Bashar al-Assad and would have meant taking sides in a civil war which is not UN policy. The Russian Government have not ruled out the possibility of military intervention in Syria but only to protect the people of Syria from further bloodshed. The current proposal suggested by the UN is clearly another example of the US using the UN as an excuse to invade countries which will not subject to their will.

According to the Egyptian daily Al-Masry-Al-Youm, the al-Assad family recently attempted to flee the country, but was ambushed en route to the airport by the Free Syrian Army. The wife of the Syrian leader, Asma Assad, attempted to leave with her children when the Free Syrian Army fired a salvo at the convoy. Earlier this month it was reported that MI6, the CIA, and British SAS are in Syria working with the Free Syrian Army and the Syrian National Council to overthrow the al-Assad regime. The Free Syrian Army is widely recognized as a creation of NATO.

By no means is the Syrian President a friend of the people, he is a Dictator and therefore anti-proletariat. This however does not give the US sanction to interfere in a countries internal affairs. This war is a war that the Syrian people must resolve themselves any foreign force will simpily heighten the violience and we may see a repeat of the Taliban incident. China and Russia wish to resolve the conflict using diplomacy and all cost want to avoid another NATO bloodbath as seen in the Iraq conflict. image

The Red Flag Sung By Pól Mac Adaim

Donald Trump Backs Mitt Romney

Mr. Trump an extremely wealthy individual has announced his endorsement for Republican hopeful Mitt Romney. This endorsement reveals not only the outright corruption of the course of democracy that those with accumulated capital play in politics but also the intention of Mr. Trump. Mr Trump wants to restore US competitiveness on the world market no doubt by lowering minimum wage and increasing working hours in order to lower the price of commodities produced. This is an outright declaration of war against the working class and should at the very least be treated with caution. For this alliance is not one for the massesimage

First they came for the Communists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Communist;
Then they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Socialist;
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Trade Unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for the Catholics, and I did not speak out- because I was a Protastant;
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me.

David Rovics on the use of DU. David is an International socialist singer who advocates change through peaceful means.

DU

The US goverment has sanctioned the use of DU in Middle-Eastern conflicts. DU is considered by many to be an act of geoncide.The millions of radioactive uranium oxide particles released when it burns can kill just as surely, but far more terribly. They can even be so tiny they pass through a gas mask, making protection against them impossible. Yet, small is not beautiful. For these invisible killers indiscriminately attack men, women, children and even babies in the womb-and do the gravest harm of all to children and unborn babies. They are carogenic and soldiers firing the weapons are also affected. DU is not yet classified as a war crime by The United Nations and shall not be so long as the US continues to use it.
