It’s time to quit the Roman Catholic Church.
It’s your moment of truth. Will it be reproductive freedom, or back to the Dark Ages? Do you choose women and their rights, or Bishops and their wrongs? Whose side are you on, anyway?
It is time to make known your dissent from the Catholic Church, in light of the U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops’ ruthless campaign endangering the right to contraception. If you’re part of the Catholic Church, you’re part of the problem.
Why are you propping up the pillars of a tyrannical and autocratic, woman-hating, sex-perverting, antediluvian Old Boys Club? Why are you aiding and abetting a church that has repeatedly and publicly announced a crusade to ban contraception, abortion and sterilization, and to deny the right of all women everywhere, Catholic or not, to decide whether and when to become mothers? When it comes to reproductive freedom, the Roman Catholic Church is Public Enemy Number One. Think of the acute misery, poverty, needless suffering, unwanted pregnancies, social evils and deaths that can be laid directly at the door of the Church’s antiquated doctrine that birth control is a sin and must be outlawed.

I don’t fully agree with this. I was able to ask all the questions I wanted when I was a believer. The problems arose when I challenged the answers. We’re taught to look to our spiritual leaders for guidance. As non-ordained congregants, we are usually encouraged to study scripture and seek help when we get stuck or need clarification. I just never got the answers I was looking for. Unlike most I took the expensive route of enrolling in Seminary to be able to answer not only my questions, but the questions of others. Unfortunately, or rather fortunately, it led to me leaving religion more equipped and in possession of the answers I had always sought. There was no God, and I was being deluded by the writing and teaching of men.
Not a single word of the Bible was penned by God. Not a single word in red in the New Testament was written by Jesus. The fact of this is evident in the inconsistencies found in the gospels. So while I was encouraged to ask questions, I was expected to accept that the Bible was the inspired word of God, to turn to it for my answers, and believe it to be true. Is that making anyone else dizzy? Walking that circle, can tend to throw you off balance. But once I found a spot to focus on, restoring my equilibrium, I was able to realized that I’d been spinning in circles for far too many years.
As often happens here, my comments were lost somewhere along the reblog trail causing people to be upset about the message that appears in the image, one I don’t even agree with. The only reason I even looked at this again is because the cosmic order vs. cosmic purpose comment added by the last blogger showed up on my dash with the reblog. I won’t even address the incongruent nature of that statement, this is about reblogging. When something comes across my dash that’s particuarly offensive or if I believe it to be wrong, I usually go to the source and see what the original poster had to say. Doing so has stopped me from shooting off some pretty nasty replies. It’s amazing what gets added and subtracted in this game of blogging telephone that we play here on tumblr. Not trying to change anything with this one, just an observation. What a curious place this tumblrverse is. ~ Kim
Not to stir up shit or anything, but I’ve never been told to shut up or not question my faith. In fact, every leader I’ve had has encouraged me to openly ask any questions I’ve had - not only that, but has volunteered to help me find the answers. Just so you all are aware… we’re not all like that.

Me too. My religious teachers and mentors have never, ever, ever, told me not to ask questions or challenge my faith. Science is about cosmic order. Religion is about cosmic purpose. We need them both. Let’s stop forcing them against each other, mmkay?

Just a month after a disgusting video which featured US Marines urinating on dead Taliban soldiers another shocking image has surfaced showing an American unit posing with the infamous SS symbol. The SS under the command of Heinrich Himmler were responsible for many crimes against humanity during the second world war. The Nazis concentration camp system was under complete control of the SS. The soldiers of the SS committed mass acts of genocide within these camps. A Marine Corps showing its endorsement for such an atrocious act is confirming rumors about the US armed forces seeking out and hiring white supremacists and religious bigots to make the core of its army. The US is currently engaged in multiple conflicts around the globe particularly in the middle-east where the majority of the people living in this region are Muslim and not white, supramicists in theory should have no qualms with killing another human being for the sole reason that they are not of the same skin colour as them.
The US worlds image is rapidly coming to mimic that of Nazi Germany with these blatant and quite frankly disgraceful acts on foreign soil. Just as Hitler had his concentration camps for the Jewish people so to does the US have its Guantanamo Bay for the Arabic people. Now I’m sure many of you know the location of Guantanamo Bay, which in case you do not it is on Cuban Territory. Fidel Castro has openly protested to this and has not cashed a rent check in since 1959 unfortunatelyshort of invading it and constituting a war against the US he his unable to act. Imperialist America is ceasing to be a hidden image and is exactly the correct term to describe what this once great republic has become.
